Finding my happy place

Life in the workplace is usually pretty stressful, even in the library. Especially in our library. Lately, there have been the semestral construction work going on, again coinciding with our inventory that all the tile-digging and cement-grinding, coupled with the heat waves has been driving everyone nuts. Fortunately, most of us are already "nutty" personalities to begin with. However, it makes it ever harder for all of us to resist being driven up the wall and just give up any semblance of hoping that our work will ever be finished. So I have been trying to figure out where to hide, if not literally, at least figuratively. To find some place, real or otherwise, where I can escape and find some sense of stillness. I think I have already found it. Rediscover is actually a more apt word since I just found my happy place again through a set of headphones.... (much thanks to ddd!)

My happy place - music. There's nothing quite like the feeling of being alone and free, just letting the drums and the strings and the bass fill your head. The best thing about it is that it still allows you to be  productive during office hours. It effectively gives your brain something else to ponder on aside from the endless details that usually just overwhelms and stress you out.

So, what kind of music constitutes your own "happy place"?

kaigachi is a conjugation of the Japanese term "kigaicha" or crazy. It roughly translates as "crazy about something."
